Networks in Cloud Pools

Published 9/28/2026· 15 views

Each Cloud Pool has a Networks tab for private networks, public IP blocks, and attaching networks to VMs.

Open Networks

Compute → Cloud pools → select a pool → Networks.

Private networks (SDN)

A private network gives VMs a private CIDR and optional gateway for east-west traffic inside your environment.

Create

  1. On Networks, click Create SDN.
  2. Enter a name, CIDR range (for example 10.24.0.0/16), and optional gateway.
  3. Save and wait until status is ready before using it on NICs.

Delete

Delete only when no VMs still depend on that network. Confirm the prompt — deletion removes the network definition.

Attach a running VM

  1. On the SDN row, choose Attach VM.
  2. Pick the VM and (when offered) a specific address or auto-assign.
  3. Confirm.

You can also add an SDN NIC when creating a VM (see Create a virtual machine in a Cloud Pool).

Public IP Blocks

Public IP Blocks for this pool appear on the same Networks tab. Use Add IP Block to request a small contiguous block (/30, /29, or /28).

In the create wizard, choose Public IP Block as the NIC type and select an available address.

VLAN Network

If your organization has a VLAN at this pool's site, the create wizard also offers VLAN Network. You manage IP addressing on that network.

IP assignment view

The Networks tab groups assignments so you can see which VM holds which address on public IP blocks and private networks.

Tips

  • Create private networks before launching VMs that need them at first boot.
  • Avoid overlapping CIDRs across networks you intend to route between.
  • Public and private NICs can coexist on the same VM when the wizard allows multiple interfaces.
  • Firewall appliances typically use a public WAN plus a private LAN — see Create a firewall VM in a Cloud Pool.

Still stuck?

Open a support ticket from Support → Tickets if a network stays pending, attach fails, or an address is stuck assigned after a VM is gone.
